Player Age is the age division a player will play in and that is determined by their age on a certain date.  

For Baseball the age cutoff is April 30th of the year.  For Softball the Age cutoff is December 31th of the year.

"Age Up" - All Players move up in age every season in August. 

"Playing up" - HV will allow players to play up one age division, i.e. and 7U age player playing in 8U. To register to play up you will need to reach our to your coach or age group commissioner.

Playing down - players who are too old to play in a certain division, i.e. a 9U player wanting to play 8U. Playing down is not allowed in any level of rec youth baseball. Select level baseball does have a rule for "age or grade level exemption" see the select organizations rules on age exemption for more info.

Age Exception, age exceptions are not allowed in Rec baseball, only in select baseball.  Age Exceptions are players who do not meet the April 30th age cutoff date, but are allowed to play down due to a grade level exemption.  Please be sure to check the tourney rules to ensure they allow age exemptions.  it is the head coach responsibility to understand these rules prior to entering in a tournament.
